Our Stay at Secrets Moxche

Our stay at Secrets Moxche in Mexico was absolutely wonderful. This 485 room resort is a pool lovers paradise, with a small but beautiful beach, stunning decor throughout the resort and delicious food.

We stayed in a Preferred Club Junior Suite Ocean View room in Building 3, room 3711. This room looked straight on to the ocean over the landscape of the pools. You could see this beautiful view from your rain shower. This building is where the Preferred Club lounge is housed, the Rooftop Garden which has a restaurant and pool for Preferred Club guests, a lobby bar, the buffet and all but one of the restaurants are located and the theater. Secrets Moxche has 3 buildings. Building 1 is for guests of Secrets Moxche Impressions and building 2 and 3 are for Secrets Moxche guests. Impressions guests will be able to utilize all of Moxche’s amenities but Moxche guests will not be able to utilize Impressions amenities.

There are numerous pools to choose from. One with a man made beach, an activities pool, quieter Cenotes pools and for swim up bar lovers, you have two to choose from. However if you would like to sit in a chair by the pool or beach all day, there is also pool/beach service. I can’t do this resort justice by just telling you about the pools. If you hate looking for beach chairs at resorts, no worries as there is always someone on the staff to help you find chairs.

I find the food can make or break a vacation. The food here was phenomenal in our opinion. Food at all-inclusive resorts many times don’t live up to the wishes of the traveler. That was not the case for us. Bamboo which was Thai inspired had many vegetarian options. The mushroom rice hot pot…so good! At Ember they cook over a wood fired grill. While my husband loved the steaks, I thought their salmon was delicious. Make sure you get the oysters as well as the mushrooms as both were so good. Bisou, the French restaurant had smaller plates. We tried the Foie Gras, Escargots, Duck, Ravioli with artichoke and truffles, Beef Wellington – all so tasty and you can tell the Chef who we met takes pride in his work. And don’t skip the desserts there! SeaSoul which is open for lunch and dinner and located at the beach was fantastic. If you are looking for ceviches, salad, calamari, fish, steak…there was a little of everything here and all fresh tasting and delectable. The resort also has Italian, Mexican, a pool grill and experienced such as a Taco Experience which is currently $50 per person and had rave reviews and an Omakase experience for $90 per person. While Tanoshii the Omakase experience had tasty pieces of sushi, we did not think this experience was worth the extra money.

As far as entertainment, they have music playing throughout the resort. Our favorite were the bands playing in the afternoon at the activities pool. Dark Horse is a sports bar and you can find Karaoke some nights there. You can also find a pool table, a golf simulator, TVs to watch your favorite sports teams. And some great bartenders…loved my French martinis there. Every night there is a show at 9:45 which we heard were great…after a day of sun, food and drinks, 9:45 was just a little late for us. And for those who enjoy tennis or pickleball, they have courts and equipment for you to play.

Don’t stay at this resort without a visit to the spa. For Preferred Club members, a scalp, foot or hand massage for 25 minutes was included. The hydrotherapy was included with our 50 minute massage and both were so relaxing.

The staff here was wonderful. They went out of their way to make you feel at home. Special shout out to Roberto at Bisou and Omar one of the concierges.

All in all, we spent a wonderful 5 days at Secrets Moxche and can’t wait to return.
